Directly opposite the terminal complex of Helsinki Airport stands the Airport Center Hotel, designed by the architectural firm Arkkitehtitoimisto SARC. The building complex comprises twelve stories with a gross floor area of around 38,000 m² and brings together two hotel brands under one roof: the Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport with 505 rooms and the Comfort Hotel with 211 rooms. The Clarion Hotel is located directly across from the airport and offers indoor access to both the terminal and the railway station. It features a modern conference center with 21 flexible meeting rooms, including the large “Runway” ballroom, which can host events for up to 1,000 guests. Several restaurants, a spa and wellness area, and a rooftop lounge overlooking the airfield round out the offer.
This makes the hotel not only a place to stay for short-term guests but also an important meeting point for companies hosting conferences, events, and meetings. Thanks to its excellent infrastructure and well-thought-out layout, the hotel is especially suited to business travelers.
The façade design is characterized by a clear, vertically structured layout. The middle floors consist of precast concrete sandwich panels, individually textured using the RECKLI Formliner 2/175 Friesland. The resulting surfaces give the façade a striking texture and reinforce the vertical division concept. The concrete surfaces are complemented by vertical glass strips and perforated aluminum elements, adding depth and rhythm. The ground floor, first floor, and twelfth floor feature generous glass areas and bright white concrete, lending the building an open and light appearance.
Inside, special attention was paid to acoustics and comfort: around 15,000 m² of acoustic ceilings in coordinated colors contribute to a calm atmosphere in public areas such as the lobby, restaurants, corridors, and meeting rooms. The Airport Center Hotel Helsinki combines direct terminal access with a wide range of services and modern architectural solutions.
