Start Digital: Design at Full Scale
Develop your façade layout in CAD. Digital set-out lets you test pattern size, alignment, repeat sequences, and transitions – while coordinating with structural grids, panel formats, and façade details. This is the most reliable way to ensure the texture works at real scale, not just on paper.
For many structures we provide 3D files for CAD, making early coordination of scale, orientation, and transitions straightforward.
Choose a Texture That Fits the Building – and Plan Its Logic
Every structure carries its own architectural character. Select a texture that supports the building’s intent, scale, and rhythm, then let that texture define the panel logic.
- Linear or ribbed patterns reinforce order and proportion. They naturally mask joints and keep large surfaces calm and continuous.
- Natural, organic textures (rock, cliff, or irregular stone reliefs) create strong material presence, but require strict register control. If motifs repeat too obviously, the surface can quickly feel artificial. Plan panel sizes, breaks, and transitions so repeats are avoided or read as deliberately varied.
In short: the texture should work with the architecture – visually and constructively – rather than fighting the building’s scale or grid.

A good match: For a district court in Poland a ribbed structure was chosen. The linear rhythm of the walls reinforces order, proportion, and quiet authority.

A piece of art – smooth concrete frames the textured section like a passe-partout.
Coordinate Joints and Anchor Points (When Casting In-Situ)
Joint lines strongly shape the perception of a façade, so decide early whether they should read as a deliberate articulation or be visually absorbed into the texture. Tipp: A proven approach is to frame textured zones with smooth concrete, which clarifies architectural fields and keeps joints quiet, clean, and intentional.
In in-situ concrete, anchor holes are unavoidable – visual disruption is not – so set them out in rhythm with the pattern and place them in recesses or shadow zones to remain unobtrusive. Early coordination ensures that both joints and technical fixings support the design instead of cutting across it.
Think About Corners
Corners are where precision becomes visible. Together with the precaster resolve how the pattern meets edges before formwork starts: using folded layouts, miters, or adapted transitions depending on texture and panel logic. The goal is continuity and visual clarity at the façade’s most sensitive points.
Our application guide for formliners includes all proven corner options: select the solution that best matches your design intent.

Plan Panels and Casting Strategy Together
Textured concrete façades require early and close coordination between architect, façade planner, and manufacturer. Panel layout, joint positions, and tolerances must be aligned with the casting strategy to ensure consistent surface quality and visual continuity.
The façade planner plays a central role in translating design intent into a buildable system. By integrating surface design, panelization, and production logic from the start, façades can be realized precisely, cost-efficiently, and exactly as envisioned.

Validate with a Full-Scale Mock-Up
A 1:1 sample panel is the safest step before production. It verifies scale, joint behavior, release quality, and the interaction between texture and concrete mix — so there are no surprises on site.
For evaluation purposes, we can provide sample panels in 50 × 50 cm and 20 × 20 cm. These allow a realistic assessment of texture, relief and the overall surface effect in concrete.

Use Curves with Confidence
Formliners perform especially well on simple curved surfaces. Their elasticity adapts to gentle radii without loss of relief. Curves can soften transitions, add movement, and introduce a dynamic façade character — when aligned with the texture’s direction.
