National Symbol Cast in Concrete
Marianne, the emblem that emerged during the tumultuous journey from the French Revolution of 1789 to 1799, embodies the values of "Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity." As the "Mother of the Nation," she appears not only on all French postage stamps and numerous Euro coins but has also been artistically brought to life in concrete by the Fehr Group in collaboration with RECKLI.
This portrait was created for the "Grande Exposition du Fabriqué en France," held annually at the Palais de l’Élysée in Paris since 2020. Initiated by President Emmanuel Macron, this exhibition celebrates the craftsmanship of French companies, artisans, producers, and industrial enterprises. Each year, products from all regions of France are showcased, selected from thousands of applications to demonstrate the diversity and quality of French manufacturing.
The Implementation
To create the striking concrete portrait of Marianne, RECKLI artico® neo was used. This process involves a plastic film on which graphics or photos are printed with a high-quality concrete activator. This causes a delayed setting of the concrete, allowing it to be washed out on the surface after the formwork is removed.
