A Partially Below-Ground Sports Facility
Designed by Agence Engasser + associés, the sports hall in Bezons was built on the site of a former parking area serving adjacent residential buildings. Positioned along the existing streets, the building clearly expresses its role as a public facility. The multi-sports hall is partially set below ground level, reducing its visible height. Two large shed roofs provide soft, even daylight from the north-east.
The building comprises an entrance hall, a multi-sports hall measuring 44 × 22 metres, an auxiliary hall, a climbing wall, a meeting room, a mezzanine level, changing rooms, technical areas, a cleaning room, and sanitary and shower facilities. The changing rooms and auxiliary hall are constructed in reinforced concrete with cast-in-place walls and slabs. The perimeter walls are executed as precast concrete elements with a structured surface.
The roof design is divided into two types: lightweight thermolacquered steel deck roofs resting on the structural frame (partially greened, while the shed roofs remain non-vegetated), and concrete flat roofs with greened waterproofing.

Structured Concrete Façade
The façade surfaces were realised using the Friesland formliner. The linear ribbed and wave relief shapes the concrete surface and creates a vertically structured texture. The spacing between the raised ribs varies between 30 and 105 millimetres, generating a differentiated depth effect across the façade.
Depending on the position of the sun, precise shadow lines enhance the plastic quality of the surface. The structured concrete façade reinforces the solid construction and gives the sports hall a clearly defined material character.
