A smooth ribbed texture gives the façade of this clinic building in Freiburg a calm impression.
The Freiburg University Clinic is currently being extended as well as being brought closer to people and nature. Over the course of the renovations, an interdisciplinary tumor center was built as early as 2019. The new building combines a reception and day clinics with nurse stations with a park that serves as a relaxation space for patients and neighboring residents alike.
For the exterior design, the architects at the leading firm Nickl & Partner opted for a façade using textured architectural concrete. They chose the 2/77 Tigris design from the RECKLI SELECT series. Tigris applies a clear, smooth ribbed texture to the façade with vertically arranged ribs. The exposed concrete elements were produced at the Polycon precast plant before being sealed against water ingress with a surface treatment.
