Residential Building with Distinctive Exposed Concrete
The project in the Styrian market town of Stainz demonstrates how existing buildings can be further developed through a clear and contemporary architectural language. The design translates existing structures into a modern spatial concept.
A defining feature of the building is its textured concrete façade, giving the structure a calm, high-quality and distinctive identity.

Texture as a defining design element
Formliner
The façade surfaces reflect the clarity of the architectural concept and translate it into a finely articulated concrete finish. The C2 30 B Havel formliner was used, whose horizontal orientation emphasizes the building’s proportions while subtly structuring the surfaces without dominating them.
Around 14 m² of formliners were used to realise approximately 65 m² of façade area. The texture is consistently applied across all elements, creating a cohesive appearance that adds depth and makes the materiality of the concrete tangible.
Precise execution using precast elements
The precast concrete elements were manufactured by Franz Oberndorfer GmbH, Völkermarkt, ensuring consistently high surface quality through technical expertise and careful production.
On-site execution was carried out by Hallenbau Planungs und Ausführungs GmbH, translating the architectural concept precisely into built form.
The combination of planning, precast production and the use of elastic formliners enabled an accurate and repeatable reproduction of the texture, resulting in a uniform and high-quality façade.
