A Terrace House Overlooking the Green Landscape
In 2019, the “Blickpunkt Limmatdeck” terrace house was completed on a sun-drenched, south-west-facing hillside not far from the banks of the River Limmat. Designed by MACH Architektur, the four-storey residential building is set into the steep slope and offers its six owner-occupied apartments sweeping views of the surrounding landscape and the Limmat.
The architect describes the design:
Gently curved terrace bands made of vertically ribbed concrete frame the different levels and give the building a refined sense of lightness.
Rounded balconies project from the sides of the building, creating additional private outdoor spaces. Each apartment also features a spacious sun deck and is conveniently accessible by lift.

Cruise Deck Atmosphere
wide joints between the ribs
To evoke the atmosphere of a cruise deck, architect Monika Sandmayr combined the distinctive concrete bands with bronze-coloured window frames and timber decking on the terraces.
For the façade, RECKLI SELECT formliner 2/75 Köcher was used. Smooth, vertically arranged ribs with a joint width of 40 millimetres give the exposed concrete its distinctive ribbed appearance and underline the building’s elegant, gently curved geometry. The flexibility of the formliner is particularly evident along the rounded terrace bands: it can adapt to the curved formwork, allowing the vertical rib pattern to follow the contours continuously and without visible interruption.
Smooth Execution by Favre Betonwaren AG
The concrete elements were produced by Favre Betonwaren AG in Däniken. Through coordinated planning of the formwork, formliner and component geometry, the curved sections could also be executed with precision. After demoulding, the prefabricated elements were installed on site.
