A wall can be much more than just a border or separator. US Formliner formliners ensure a special aesthetic, and can accurately imitate other construction materials. They can be used on small and large projects.
Building a wall might be a lot less challenging than erecting an entire building; however, this doesn’t mean that the design should be compromised.
Aesthetically designed walls improve their surroundings. They can help to integrate structures into the environment. A good example is the ring road in the French town of Thonon-les-Bains, which crosses the La Dranse river. In order to make sure the building fit in with the Rhône-Alpes region, a natural design was selected for the supporting walls on the mountain. The Lyon-based Strates architecture firm worked together with artist Pascal Jacquet and stuccoer Henry Frères to create a unique texture similar to that of a rocky cliff wall.
Five different models ensure optic variety. A structure depth of up to 20 centimeters makes for an interesting play of light and shadow. Even from a distance, the wall looks dynamic. The use of RECKLI formliners resulted in significant cost savings, even for these unique designs. Instead of expensive rock and quarry stone elements, pre-cast concrete elements were poured to create a deceptively real look. The fact that the formliners can be re-used made production even more economical.
As well as quarry stone textures, US Formliner formliners can also recreate stone and masonry textures such as rock, natural stone, rubble, or even brick. Wood textures range from natural branches, bamboo and reeds, to asymmetrically butt-joined boards with wood grain and knots. Render effects, ribbed and wave patterns, and abstract textures with geometric shapes, and regular or random patterns are also possible.
Due to their diversity, formliners can be a cost-effective alternative to brick, rock or wood, and expensive maintenance or regular painting are unnecessary.
