Residential development on a sloped site
The Költő Kert Villapark and gallery are located in Budapest’s 12th district and form part of a residential development on a challenging sloped site. Access routes to the villas are organised through stepped outdoor areas that are used daily and must ensure safe circulation.
Functional staircases along the access routes
The staircases are located along the access paths leading to the villas and are an integral part of everyday use. They connect different levels within the outdoor areas and must remain safely walkable under changing weather conditions, including rain and moisture.
For this application, the 2119 Pikes formliner was used. The pronounced surface texture significantly improves slip resistance and provides a high level of safety in daily use. The stair elements achieve slip resistance class R13, the highest classification, meeting the most demanding requirements for outdoor staircases.
Slip resistance tailored to use
This project demonstrates how formliners can be used for functional concrete surfaces. Depending on usage and exposure, different slip resistance classes are available to meet specific requirements. For the access routes to the villas, the highest class was deliberately selected to ensure maximum safety even under demanding weather conditions.
In cooperation with the precast manufacturer SW-Umwelttechnik, a durable staircase solution was realised that reliably supports daily access and highlights the practical benefits of structured concrete surfaces.
